SPB-Linux 1.0.1: Accessing win95-files with long names copy to floppy disk (+ format floppy, 1.44MB and 1.68MB DMF) FTP-access (client and server) *) using Win95-shares *) linux NFS *) telnet (client and server) *) The PC does not boot from harddisk or there are reasons not to boot from harddisk - thus a bootable floppy disk is required. The SPB-Linux bootdisk uses the Midnight Commander (mc), a Norton Commander like interface and has the advantage that all files have long names. The system runs using a ramdisk and requires 16MB RAM. This Linux-system allows to PCs to be connected (serial or parallel nullmodem-cable or ethernet with NE2000 compatible network-card, isa, pci or pcmcia) -access to shared folders in a Windows 95 network -SPB-Linux simulates a modem: using a nullmodem cable other PCs can dial into the PC running SPB-Linux and access its folders by FTP. -access to Linux NFS shared directories The PC running SPB-Linux can be operated without keyboard and screen using telnet (even with a Palm III). SPB-Linux has been designed in .S.ankt .P.eters.b.urg, Russia. _________________________________________ *) the corresponding addons (bz2-files) must be copied to the bootdisk or to a second floppy disk (setting variable addons:changefloppy=yes). #SPB-Linux version 1.0.1, C.
